Spam also called garbage mail is really unwanted e-mail.
Spam is often advirtisement for different product, which is sent out as massmail.
History behind SPAM
The word SPAM is from the start spicy and tinned meat (HAM). During the second worldware there were sent large amount of SPAM to soldiers in the field.
The soldiers came to hate the tinned meat more then their enemies.
During the 70'th Monty Python made a scetch about SPAM, the sketch was played out in an resturant where they just served SPAM.

SPAM is as we said some form of ad which you receive against your will and that you have no chance to cancel your "subscription".
Those who sends spam is usually called spammers.
Spammers gets there e-mail adresses in different ways. Most of them gather the e-mail adresses from websites, e-mail lists or through viruses etc.
In most SPAM there is a link telling you how to unsubscribe or terminate your subscription. This link usually doesn't work, but is rather used to let the spammers know that a person behind the e-mail adress is acctually reading the spam mail.
How do you protect yourself against spam?
There is no way to protect yourself a 100 % against SPAM. But there are some products out on the market which can help you.
We will within shortly make reviews of some of the products.
But for now we add a list of things you can do that can help you avoid future spammails.
- Use a secondary e-mail adress when you sign up for something that your not a 100 % sure off. This e-mail adress could proberbly be a Hotmail adress.
- If you need to write down your e-mail adress on a forum or on a webpage. Then you should "SPAM" secure it. So that you write your e-mail adress as peterREMOVETHIS@antivirusprogram.se, This should indicate the person e-mailing you that they should send an e-mail but first remove "REMOVETHIS".
